Mike Shaw is from Canton, Ill., and moved to Clarksdale in 1987 or 1988 — he can’t quite remember. He’s being raising his own vegetables for about 10 years, and this year’s crop includes squash, cucumbers, tomatoes (that have yet to produce fruit), okra, bell peppers, cantaloupe, watermelon and eggplant. Mike also pickles any and everything, like his sweet corn that didn’t quite turn out pretty enough to sell, but are fine for pickling.
